Attributes are the reusable options that describe your products — things like Size, Color, and Material. You define an attribute once (for example Size) and list its terms (the choices, like Small, Medium, Large). You can then apply that attribute to any product, use it to build variations customers choose from, and turn it into a filter so shoppers can narrow down your Store. You’ll find attributes in your site dashboard under Store (المتجر) → Attributes (الخصائص). This is different from your account portal, which is only for billing.
Not sure how to open your site dashboard? See Site dashboard overview. Attributes live in the site dashboard, not the account portal.

Attributes vs. terms

An attribute has two parts. Keep them clear and the rest of this page is easy:

Attribute

The type of option — for example Size, Color, or Material. Think of it as the question: “Which size?”

Term

A value within that attribute — for example Small, Medium, Large under Size. Think of these as the answers a customer can pick.
Example: the attribute Color might have the terms Red, Blue, and Green. The attribute Material might have Cotton, Leather, and Wool.

Two ways to use attributes

Attributes do two jobs in your Store. The same attribute can do both at once.

Build variations

Turn one product into several buyable options — like a T-shirt in small / medium / large and red / blue — each with its own price, stock, and image.

Filter your Store

Let customers narrow a category by attribute — for example show only blue, size large — so they find what they want faster.

Two places to create attributes

You can set up an attribute in either place, and they work together:
  • Global attributes — created in Store → Attributes. Set them up once and reuse them on any product. Best for options you’ll use again and again, like a standard Size chart.
  • Per-product attributes — added directly on a single product while you edit it. Best for a one-off option that only that product needs.
If you sell more than a handful of products that share the same options, create global attributes. You’ll save time and keep your terms (like Small / Medium / Large) spelled the same everywhere — which keeps your filters tidy.
This page focuses on global attributes. To add an option to just one product, see Set up product variations on the Products page.

Create a global attribute

Follow these steps to create a reusable attribute and add its terms.
1

Open Attributes

In your site dashboard, go to Store → Attributes. You’ll see a list of any attributes you’ve already created, with a form to add a new one.
2

Name the attribute

Enter a clear name, such as Size, Color, or Material. This is the label customers see, so keep it short and obvious.
3

Choose how customers pick it (if asked)

Some attributes show as a simple dropdown of choices. Others, like color, can show as swatches or buttons. If you’re offered a display style, pick whichever is clearest for that option; otherwise the default is fine.
The exact display options depend on your Store’s setup. When in doubt, leave the default and adjust later.
4

Save the attribute

Save it. The new attribute appears in your list — but it’s empty until you add terms in the next step.
Your new attribute now shows in the list on Store → Attributes. Next, add the choices (terms) it offers.

Add terms to an attribute

Terms are the actual choices — Small, Red, Cotton. An attribute isn’t useful until it has them.
1

Open the attribute's terms

On the Attributes list, find your attribute and open its terms (often shown as a “configure terms” link or a count next to the attribute).
2

Add each choice

Add a term for every option you offer. For Size, add Small, Medium, and Large — one at a time. Give each a clear name; the rest of the details are optional.
3

Order them sensibly

Put terms in the order customers expect — for example Small → Medium → Large, not alphabetical. You can usually drag them into order.
4

Save

Save your terms. They’re now ready to use on any product.
Spell terms consistently. Small and small (or S) are treated as different choices, which clutters your filters and variations. Pick one style and stick to it.

Use an attribute to build variations

Once a global attribute exists, you can apply it to a product and create the combinations customers buy. This is what turns a single product into a variable product.
1

Open the product

In your site dashboard, go to Store → Products and open (or add) the product you want to sell in options.
2

Add the attribute to the product

In the product’s attributes section, add your global attribute (for example Size), then choose which terms apply to this product — maybe only Medium and Large. Mark it used for variations.
3

Create the variations

In the product’s variations section, generate the combinations — Medium / Red, Large / Blue, and so on. Remove any combination you don’t actually sell.
4

Set price and stock per variation

Give each variation its own price, stock, and image if they differ. For example, the large size might cost a little more.
5

Save and publish

Save the product. On the live page, customers pick their options and the price, image, and availability update to match.
Variations are set up on the product, not on the Attributes page. The Attributes page just defines the reusable options. For the full product walkthrough, see Products.

Use attributes for filtering

Attributes also power the filters customers use to browse. When products share a global attribute — like Color — your Store can show a filter that lets shoppers narrow a page to just blue or just size large.
  • A filter only works well when products use the same global attribute and the same terms — another reason to keep terms spelled consistently.
  • Filters usually appear on category and shop pages once an attribute is in use across several products.
  • The exact look of a filter (a sidebar list, swatches, or a dropdown) depends on how that page is built in the Builder (البلدر).
Where filters show and how they look is controlled by your page layout in the Builder. To change where a filter appears on a page, edit that page in the Builder. See Builder overview.

Edit and organize attributes

You can change attributes and their terms at any time from Store → Attributes.
  • Rename an attribute — open it and change its name. This updates the label everywhere it’s used.
  • Add or remove terms — add new choices as your range grows, or remove ones you’ve dropped.
  • Reorder terms — drag them so customers see them in a natural order.
  • Delete an attribute — remove it when you no longer use it.
Deleting an attribute (or one of its terms) removes it from every product that used it, which can break existing variations that relied on it. If a variation depends on a term, update or rebuild that product’s variations before deleting. To simply stop offering a choice, remove it from the product instead of deleting the global term.

Tips for clean attributes

Use a global attribute (in Store → Attributes) when several products share the same option, like a standard size chart — you set it up once and reuse it. Use a per-product attribute when only one product needs that option. Global attributes also make filtering work across your Store.
Keep it simple. Two attributes — usually size and color — cover most stores. Too many options make a product confusing to buy and create a huge number of variations to manage.
Filters need products to share the same global attribute and the same terms. If one product uses Large and another uses L, they won’t group together. Standardize your terms, and make sure the products actually use the global attribute (not a one-off per-product one).
An attribute describes a variation of one product — this shirt in red, size large. A category or tag groups different products together — all shirts, summer collection. Use attributes for options within a product; use categories & tags to organize your catalog.
No. A simple product has one price and no options, so it needs no attributes. Add attributes only when the same product comes in different versions like size or color.
