# Products

> Products are the items you sell in your Store. Learn how to add, price, organize, and publish products — including simple and variable products with options like size and color.

**Products** are the items you sell in your **Store** — a single item, a service, or a product that comes in different options like size and color. This page shows you how to add a product, set its price and stock, organize it with categories and tags, and publish it so customers can buy it.

You'll find products in your **site dashboard** under **Store (المتجر) → Products (المنتجات)**. This is different from your **account portal**, which is only for billing.

<Info>
  Not sure how to open your site dashboard? See [Site dashboard overview](/en/site/dashboard-overview). Your products live in the **site dashboard**, not the account portal.
</Info>

## The Products list

Open **Store → Products** to see everything you sell in one list. Each row shows the product's image, name, price, stock status, and its categories and tags. From here you can:

* **Search** for a product by name.
* **Filter** the list by category or stock status to find items quickly.
* **Open** a product to edit it.
* **Add** a new product.

<Tip>
  As your catalog grows, use categories and tags to keep it tidy. They also become the menus and filters customers use to browse your Store. See [Categories & tags](/en/store/categories-tags).
</Tip>

## Simple vs. variable products

Before you add a product, decide which type it is. This choice controls whether the product has one price or several.

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Simple product" icon="box">
    One item with **one price** and (optionally) **one stock count**. Best for things that don't vary — a single book, one candle, a digital download.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Variable product" icon="boxes-stacked">
    One product sold in **several options** — for example a T-shirt in **small / medium / large** and **red / blue**. Each combination can have its own price, stock, and image.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Note>
  You can start with a simple product and switch it to variable later if you add options. Pick **simple** if your item has just one version.
</Note>

## Add your first product

Follow these steps to create and publish a product. You can save your work at any point and come back to finish later.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Products and add a new one">
    In your site dashboard, go to **Store → Products**, then choose to **add a new product**. A blank product page opens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name your product">
    Enter a clear **product name** — the title customers see, such as *Vanilla Soy Candle*. Keep it short and descriptive.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write a description">
    Add a **description** that explains what the product is, what's included, and why someone would buy it. Most products have a longer main description and a short summary that appears near the price. Cover materials, size, care, or anything a buyer would ask.

    <Tip>Write for your customer, not a search engine. Honest details and clear photos reduce returns and questions.</Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add images">
    Upload a **main image** for the product, and add more photos to a **gallery** so customers can see it from different angles. Use bright, well-lit photos on a clean background. You can pick images you've already uploaded from your **Media library**.

    <Note>Clear, consistent images make your whole Store look more professional. Square photos usually display best.</Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the price">
    Enter the **regular price** in Egyptian pounds (EGP, ج.م). To run a discount, also set a **sale price** — the lower price customers pay while the item is on offer. Your Store shows the original price struck through next to the sale price.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose categories and tags">
    Assign the product to one or more **categories** (its main groups, like *Candles*) and add **tags** (keywords, like *gift* or *handmade*). These help customers browse and search your Store.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set inventory and stock">
    Decide whether to **track stock** for this product. If you do, enter how many you have, and your Store updates the count as orders come in and marks the item **out of stock** when it runs out. If you don't track stock, the product stays available.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up shipping (for physical items)">
    If the product is shipped, add its **weight** and **dimensions** so shipping can be calculated correctly. Skip this for digital or service products that aren't delivered.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add options (only for variable products)">
    If your product comes in different versions, add **attributes** such as *Size* and *Color*, then create the **variations** (combinations) customers choose from. See the **Set up product variations** section below.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview and publish">
    Use **preview** to see how the product looks to a customer. When it's ready, **publish** it so it appears in your live Store. To finish later, **save it as a draft** instead — drafts aren't visible to customers yet.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Check>
  After publishing, open your live Store and find the product to confirm the name, price, images, and options all look right.
</Check>

## Set up product variations (size, color, and more)

A **variable product** lets one product page offer several options — for example a hoodie in three sizes and two colors. You build this in two parts: **attributes** (the options) and **variations** (the specific combinations).

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the attributes">
    On the product, open the **attributes** section and add an attribute such as **Size**, then list its values: *Small*, *Medium*, *Large*. Add a second attribute like **Color** with *Red* and *Blue*. Mark each attribute as **used for variations**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the variations">
    Open the **variations** section and generate the combinations — for example *Small / Red*, *Small / Blue*, *Medium / Red*, and so on. You don't have to keep every combination; remove any you don't sell.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set price and stock per variation">
    For each variation you can set its own **price**, **sale price**, **stock**, and **image**. For instance, the large size could cost a little more, and each color could show its own photo.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save and publish">
    Save the product. On the live page, customers pick their options (size and color) and the price, image, and availability update to match their choice.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Attributes you'll reuse across many products — like a standard size chart — can be set up once in **Store → Attributes** and then applied to any product. See [Attributes](/en/store/attributes).
</Note>

<Tip>
  Keep variations simple. Two attributes (like size and color) cover most stores. Too many options make a product confusing to buy.
</Tip>

## Edit and organize your products

You can change a product at any time — your Store updates right away.

* **Edit a product** — open it from the Products list, make your changes, and save. Updates to price, stock, or description appear immediately.
* **Put a product on sale** — add a **sale price**; remove it to end the offer.
* **Hide a product temporarily** — switch it back to **draft** to take it off your live Store without deleting it. Republish when you're ready.
* **Mark out of stock** — set its stock to zero (or mark it out of stock) so customers can't order it while you restock.
* **Duplicate a product** — copy a similar product to save time, then change just the details that differ.
* **Delete a product** — remove it permanently when you no longer sell it.

<Warning>
  **Deleting** a product is permanent and removes it from your Store. If you only want to pause sales, set it back to **draft** or mark it **out of stock** instead — that keeps the product so you can bring it back later.
</Warning>

### Product status

| Status           | What it means                                               |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Published** | Live in your Store — customers can see and buy it. |
| **Draft** | Saved but hidden — only you can see it while you finish it. |
| **Out of stock** | Visible but not buyable until you restock. |

## Tips for great product pages

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What makes a good product photo?">
    Use natural light, a clean background, and show the product from a few angles. Add a photo that shows scale (the item in use or in hand) so customers know the real size. Consistent, square images keep your Store looking tidy.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How should I write the description?">
    Lead with the benefit, then list the details a buyer needs: size, materials, what's included, and care instructions. Short paragraphs and bullet points are easier to read than one long block of text.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Simple or variable — which should I choose?">
    Use **simple** when the item has one version and one price. Use **variable** when the same product comes in options like size or color and you want one page where customers pick what they want.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Should I track stock?">
    Track stock if you have a limited quantity and want your Store to stop sales automatically when you sell out. Leave tracking off for made-to-order items, digital downloads, or services where you never run out.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I add a discount?">
    Set a **sale price** lower than the regular price. Your Store shows the original price crossed out next to the new price. Remove the sale price to return to full price. For code-based discounts at checkout, use [Coupons](/en/store/coupons).
